Karin Kurz (カレン・クルツ) is a character that appeared on NEVER ISLAND, which is the counterpart of ISLAND as it is set in the 22,016 AD in the future of Ice Age period (Winter)..
Appearance[]
Karin looks like Karen, but shorter with shorter hair. As a poor children living in the street, her clothes are scratched and messy. Like Karen, she always carry a precious knife for her, giving him to Setsuna.
Personality[]
Karin in a strong girl living in the streets with other collarless children, due to not having an official identity and name. She is easily angered by Setsuna, but never harbored ill will towards him, just dreaming of finding Avalon and so liberty, like her Summer counterpart.
Plot[]
She is the leader of the Neo Avalon, an organization that gathers all the children who have no tags, who are trying to revolutionize ISLAND by fighting the church, and have a dream to find the holy land of Avalon.
Karin and the children were wanted by the church, due to them raiding the provision stands held by the church. While Sarah was feeding them, she met Setsuna and tricked him with her friend Peach to abduct him. She revealed that in order to survive, she and her friend earn money by giving sexual favors, and seemed to somewhat take pride in this job, and some of her friends "pro" skills. She asked Setsuna to assist her as a spy in the church in exchange of the services and girls of his choice, and he accepted the offer while he denied the services.
After that, Karin called him a regular as a recurring joke, causing Rinné to misunderstand their relationship, thinking Setsuna was really a regular. When she planned to kidnap Sarah without hurting her with the help of Setsuna, her plan was discovered by Sara who went along, but things were busted accidentally by Rinné, causing the church to catch all of hidden Karin's friend and kill Sarah's father, accusing her. After the end of the incident, he went to meet Karin and takes her outside with him and Rinné, living with hem in their base. She was finally happy to have discovered the vast and free outside world. But due to humanity living underground, Karin had soot blight syndrome, and died a few days after while Setsuna was taking her to a doctor.
Anime[]
She led the attack to steal the ransom from the villagers. At night, she kidnapped Setsuna during the middle of illegal sharing of ransom to the no tags one. However, her hideout was found and she was forced to leave her allies and ran with Sarah, Setsuna, and Rinné.
Karin, alongside Sara and Setsuna were later set off to save her friends after she got a warn of wanted poster and the execution of her friend on the next day. However, it was a ruse as her friends were found killed afterward. It was revealed that the church had gone heel, corrupted and went far to kill Sara and her father. Rinné saved them during the burn execution after they were accused for killing Sara's father which actually done by unknown soldier which was paid by the corrupted priest.
When they went out from the island, Sara was actually caught a deep bullet wound, killing her due the blood loss. Karin at first felt so happy that she could be free, but she quickly caught on soot blight syndrome and it killed her because Setsuna realized it too late and late to take her to the doctor.
